Analysis of some new mathematical models for materials with microstructure

Duration: January 2017- December 2019

Financially supported by "Alexandru Ioan Cuza" University of Iasi

Host Institution: "Alexandru Ioan Cuza" University of Iasi

Principal Investigator: Dr. Ionel-Dumitrel Ghiba

Project Summary:

This project is related to the study of some mathematical problems from mechanics of continua with microstructure, but also to the construction of new models and mathematical tools in order to improve some existing models and to increase the generality of the mathematical results.

Objectives:

  • Improvement of the existing models for materials with microstructure;

  • Mathematical analysis of the new proposed models.

Expected results:

  • A minimum of an article in an international ISI journal.

Publications:

  • M.V. d'Agostino, G. Barbagallo, I.D. Ghiba, B. Eidel, P. Neff, A. Madeo, Effective description of anisotropic wave dispersion in mechanical band-gap metamaterials via the relaxed micromorphic model, accepted, Journal of Elasticity, 2019.
