MSc Studies Overview The Faculty of Mathematics offers the following Master programs:
FUNDAMENTAL MATHEMATICAL STRUCTURES This program offers further preparation in the fundamental areas of mathematics: Analysis, Algebra and Geometry. Duration: 4 semesters (120 credits).
MATHEMATICAL MODELS AND APPLIED STATISTICS The goal of this program is to prepare mathematicians, IT specialists and physicists able to solve applied problems, from mathematical modeling to numerical approximation and computer implementation. The courses concentrate on Applied Mathematics, Differential Equations, Numerical Analysis and Computer Science. Duration: 4 semesters (120 credits).
FINANCIAL MATHEMATICS This program is mainly addressed to graduate students in exact, technical and economic sciences, with a strong mathematical background. The program meets the need of high-skilled specialists in economical and financial analysis, requested by the globalization of financial markets, by the development of the financial transactions in Romania, by the increasing of the complexity of portfolio investments in Romania, by the expansion of the European labor market, by the development of the institutional investment and of the banking environment in Romania, by the intensifying competition in finance and public administration. The goal of this program is to prepare specialists able to analyze and forecast market developments and feasibility of financial operations. The courses include topics of:

SCIENTIFIC CALCULUS AND SOFTWARE ENGINEERING This program is mainly addressed to graduate students in exact and technical sciences, with a strong background in mathematics and sciences. It aims to prepare specialists in solving theoretical and applied IT problems. The courses include topics of Computer Science (Databases, Linux OS, Functional Programming Techniques, Denotational Semantics, Compiler Theory, Computer Graphics), Algebra (Foundations of Algebraic Science, Theory of Codes), Applied Mathematics (Probability, Graph Theory, Matlab, Combinatorial Optimization, Continuous Media Mechanics, Mathematical Methods in Signal Processing, Statistics, Mathematical Methods in Biomechanics). Duration: 4 semesters (120 credits).
